A family is grieving the sudden loss of a young mother who passed away shortly after giving birth, raising concerns about possible medical negligence during and after her delivery.
Sade Allen, described by loved ones as the heart of her family, died just two weeks after welcoming her newborn daughter into the world. Allen leaves behind her husband and five children, including the infant she had recently delivered.
According to family members, Allen first visited Christ Hospital on February 16 to be examined. During that visit, hospital staff reportedly recommended inducing labor early due to concerns about high blood pressure. The family said they initially declined the induction and chose to leave the hospital to discuss the decision.
The following day, February 17, the family returned to the hospital to proceed with the induction. Allen’s husband later claimed the process felt rushed and unprofessional, stating that staff told them they needed to move quickly because other patients were waiting for beds.
Allen went into labor on February 18. During labor, the family alleges medical staff briefly left the room to assist another patient before being called back by a nurse. They also claim Allen began experiencing swelling in her right leg during the process.
Following the birth, Allen reportedly developed complications that the family now believes were signs of blood clots. They say she experienced significant pain and swelling in her leg but was discharged from the hospital.
Several days later, Allen returned to the hospital complaining of severe pain on her right side. According to her husband, doctors conducted blood tests and scans before sending her home with antibiotics.
When the pain continued, the family sought care at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where additional testing reportedly revealed blood clots in both lungs and both legs related to postpartum complications and the stress of labor.
Allen was released from the hospital shortly afterward but died at home the following day.
Her family believes the condition was not properly diagnosed or treated earlier and has raised questions about whether her death could have been prevented.
Allen is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, talented chef, and caring friend who touched many lives through her generosity and warmth.
Her sudden passing has left her family facing emotional devastation as well as financial hardship while they care for her young children.
The family says they hope sharing her story will raise awareness and help ensure that no other family experiences a similar tragedy.
