Lincoln Loggers Show Heart, Faith & Teamwork in Rescheduled Match up Against Kennedy ROCKFORD, IL — On Monday, October 6, 2026,

The Lincoln Middle School Loggers football program finally got the opportunity to take the field against Kennedy Middle School after their original matchup was postponed due to weather.

The rescheduled JV/Varsity matchup was held at Auburn High School, with kickoff beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The first two quarters proved difficult for the Loggers. Constant penalty flags, disputed calls, and touchdowns that were not counted created frustration on the field, on the sidelines, and throughout the crowd. Kennedy took advantage of the early momentum and built a commanding lead of roughly 40 points.

But something happened on that field that night.

Instead of allowing frustration to completely take over, the Lincoln Loggers came together as a team.

The players gathered in prayer, and their coaches delivered an encouraging message reminding the young athletes to stay focused, keep their faith, trust one another, and continue playing the game the right way.

That moment appeared to light a fire underneath the Loggers.

Lincoln returned to the field with renewed energy, determination, and teamwork. Rather than focusing on the calls going against them, the players began focusing on one another. They continued fighting, started putting points on the scoreboard, celebrated their teammates, and found joy in playing alongside each other again.

Kennedy Middle School ultimately earned the victory with a final score of 48–14, but the scoreboard did not tell the entire story of the night.

The Lincoln Loggers walked away with something bigger than a win — a lesson about the power of prayer, faith, perseverance, discipline, and teamwork both on and off the field.

Games like this remind young athletes that adversity is part of sports and part of life. What matters most is how a team responds when things are not going its way.

Congratulations to Kennedy Middle School on the victory and a competitive game, and congratulations to the Lincoln Loggers for continuing to fight until the final whistle.

A special shoutout goes to the Lincoln Loggers coaching staff for encouraging, guiding, and pouring into these young athletes when they needed it most.
